Under the Animal Welfare Act 2006, it is ultimately the responsibility of individual dog owners to decide whether or not it is safe / sensible to visit during heatwaves and for how long.

The fields will remain open, but BFH can take no responsibility for decisions that are made. However, all reasonable precautions are taken. These include :

  • Providing plenty of drinking water
  • Refreshing and refilling splash pools very regularly
  • Opening earlier & later in the day
  • Allowing cancellations & re-scheduling at shorter notice than usual (i.e. less than 24 hours' notice)
  • Growing vegetation to provide shaded areas
  • Encouraging enrichment rather than running around
